 Swimming 2021🏊

Salaam everybody. Today I am going to tell you and blog about swimming. We do swimming on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Monday and Thursdays we swim on lunchtimes. On Wednesday and Friday we do classtime swimming. This year we will have an oppurtunity to have 10 swimming sessions at Cameron pools. We get to swim in the school pool for now and the teachers are testing our swimming so that whne we go to Cameron Pools they know what group to put us in. In New Zealand we have to learn how to swim because we are surrounded by water. In the swimming pool we had to lye down on the edge and then we had to roll in and then start making a whirl pool. Also we getted to do freestyle like front strokes and back strokes. It was so much fun swimming in the pool.

Slip and Slide🌊

 Slip and Slide🌊

Salaam everybody. Today I am going to tell you and blog about the slip and slide. We did the slip and slide which means water slide. We were so lucky to be doing the slip and slide for fun. This year we didn't have an oppurtunity to do the slip and slide so thats why we did it. First we got split into 2 groups. One of the groups went to the swimming pool and the other went to the slip and slide. The people who didn't have their togs they just helped with the slip and slide. My group first went to the swimming pool while the other group went down the slip and slide. 

The swimming pool was so much fun some people were watching the slip and slide people go down the slide. The teachers even took some funny pictures of people. Next my group went down the slip and slide. It was so much fun. First  Dave (School Caring person) had to hose the water slide and put some liquid in a bucket and then tip the bucket down the water slide so we could go down it. The whole school getted to do it. The juniors, The middles, and last but not least the seniors. There were some people looking quite funny cause the soap covered their whole face.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Salaam everyone! Today I am going to blog and tell you about mindfulness. We only had 4 sessions with Whaea Stephanie. We were very lucky to have mindfulness sessions with Whaea Stephanie. We had to choose a buddy and put our feet and hold hands and it was called a waka. We also played a game were everyone holds hands and we can't let go and we go through a hoop. I think we did mindfulness to learn how to control our breath when we have different emotions like anger, Sad, Frustrated. I can't wait for Whaea Stephanie to come back next year and teach us some more mindfulness.

Today I am hoing to tell you and blog about Summer learining Journey (SLJ) for 2020. Te Waka Ako started the Summer Learning Journey. We started of with teaser. For the summer Learinig Journey we did the art coulouring book. We had to decide which picture we wanted to coulour in. I decided to coulour in a picture called Composition. The person who made that picture was Mohammed Melehi Barjeel Art Foundation.

 Big Foot Bike Skills🚲

Salaam everybody. Today I am going to tell you and blog about bike skills. On Tuesday 24th November we were lucky to have two sessions of bike skills. Our coaches were Ella and John. We had to wear or raincoats because it was raining. The other two classes had Holly and Shelly. We played a game calle the box game. I was so close to winning but then the head,Shoulders,Knees,And toes,knees and toes was hard on the bike. 

I accidentally put my foot on the ground and then I was out. We learned how to put our hand out to stop so when drivers are driving they know that we are doing a signal for them to stop. We learned what to wear when we are riding a bike. We had to wear a vest so that at night when drivers are driving the grey strips on the vest reflect. We had so much fun in those two sessions. We could change gears on our bikes. On my bike the gears I had were 8,6,3,1. We did bike skills to learn how to ride a bike.

Skateboarding🛹

Skateboarding🛹 

Do you like skateboarding? Salaam everybody today I am going to tell you and blog about skateboarding. We did skateboarding with our 2 coaches Ben and Lawrence. We were lucky to have 2 sessions. We learnt about crab walk, Tick tacks, Front side Back side, And playing whats up Mr Wolf. At the start I felt nervous but then throughout the lesson I got the hang of it. My favourite skill was probably the crab walk. I also liked the game whats up Mr Wolf. 

I found it challenging when my skateboard kept on rolling away. I gained confidence and learnt skills. I found it tricky on the concrete. We were split in to 2 groups with either Ben, or either Lawrence. I was with Ben. I also liked trying out some cool moves. We also got free time to go on the ramps and try out the moves they taught us. I was kind of enjoying skateboarding. The thing that was good about the lesson was when I got to try new moves that I hadn't tried before.

The thing I also found tricky was when people had accidents. After this skateboard lesson I want to try some new moves next time. I am excited to found out the new moves when they come back for our new lesson. I was deciding to ask my parents to buy me one for my birthday, So I can go ride it at the park.

🌊 Production!🌊

Salaam everybody. Today I am gong to blog about our school production for this year. Our school production was called Jasmine and Aladdin. We spent 13 weeks practicing rehersals. On Monday the year 5/6's went to Waikowhai Intermediate to go and practice the production in their hall. We used the props to practice. The backstage crew went in the car while the rest walked.

On Tuesday the whole school went to Waikowhai Intermediate so that they could show their dances. We had a dress rehersal on Wednesday when Waikowhai Intermediate and Hay Park School came. They came to see our Production and be the audience. The rehearsels were fun.

On Wednesday and Thursday night our parents came to see our show and on Friday morning our parents came  to see our  show in the morning. At the end our teacher took a video of us doing the finaly dance. We do productions for fun and also so we know what we are scared of and what we are not scared of. Also we do them so we can go on stage and see if we can perform in front of a proper audience.
