My sports person profile⚽

 My sports person profile

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to be blogging about my sports person profile. In Te Waka Ako (syndicate) we have been learning about the Olymic Games. We also watched it on the TV of how many medals have New Zealand won. Also we found out that we won a gold medal for rowing. Anyways we did a sports person profile. It was where we had to go onto the olympic site and find a person and what sport they do. I chose Simone Billes. She does Artistic Gymanstics in the Olympics. After we were done we then had to discover back in the old days which person did the same sport and who it was. The person who did Artistic Gymnastics in the old days was Oksana Chusovitina. She won 1 gold medal and 1 silver.

Here is my sport person profile on Simone Billes and Oksana Chusovitina🎉

✴✴✴ Matariki ✴Lanterns✴✴✴

✴✴✴ Matariki ✴Lanterns✴✴✴

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to blog about Matariki lanterns. For Matariki we made lanterns. We made them out of coloured paper. The colours were blue, green, and pink for the outside. Orange and yellow for the inside. The people who weren't here had to do them the next day. Here are some instructions on how to make Matariki lanterns.

First you fold the paper in half. Then you measure a 4 cm line. After that you fold the 4cm line. Then you get the inside piece of paper and need to measure a 2cm line. Then you need to rule the 2cm line down to the bottom. Next you get some scissors  and cut on the 2 cm lines. When your done cutting your lines you wrap it around the inside. Then your finished.

Teaching Cultural Games🎊

Teaching Cultural Games🎊

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to blog about teaching cultural games to the senior students. The year 6 leaders taught the year 5's some cultural games that the leaders learned from parents. The different games were Aussie rules from Australia, Stream from Russia, Wizards also from Russia, Caber Toss from Scotland, Bamboo stick game from Japan, and last but not least Ulu Maika from Hawaii. My group had to teach Stream. Only 3 groups teached first and then the other groups that were left teached after lunch. In the afternoon the groups that were presenting the games before lunch were put into a group with the year 5's. My group went to Aussie rules first and then went to Wizards. We didn't get to do the last game because there was no time. What went well for us was when everybody was having fun and listning to the instructions.

Here are some photos of the day

Writing a procedure💻

Writing a procedure💻

Asalaam Alaikum everone. Today I am going to blog about writing a procedure. In class we were looking at cultural games from around the world. We then had to write a procedural text  about a  game that we knew how to play and write them in steps. I wrote about a Fijian game called Pani, Pani, Pani. I wrote about it because I learned how to play it. On our procedural text we had to put the equipment we needed, Steps on how to play it, and a diagram or photo. After we were done our plan we then had to put it on a google doc and make it even better. I made a diagram on how to play Pani, Pani, Pani because there were no diagrams on google. I did good at making a procedure and a fantastic diagram with shapes. Here is my procedural text link and my google doc link that I wrote about.

STEM week Waikowhai student led toolkits💻

STEM week Waikowhai student led toolkits💻

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to blog about toolkits. We had a day where we had 3 sessions to explore anything we wanted to. The choices were Book Creator, Drones, Spheroes, Word Art, Music Lab, Makey Makey, Brainbox, Incredibox, Google Maps, and Google slide animation. Apparently we couldn't do drones because they didn't work.  It was basically a STEM week. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, mathmetics. We did a google form to choose our 3 toolkits.

The first toolkit I went to were the drones. We had to wait an hour because aparently the drones didn't work and the people who were presenting the drones were getting frustrated. Only one drone worked which was the one they going to show as an example. So instead we had to explore and try the spheroes. We had to choose our group of four. After that we went to go and get a sphero and only one person had to open there chromebook and get onto the app. It was fun exploring and then they said we could go outside and drive them on the ramps that were out.

The second toolkit I went to was Book Creator. My friends were presenting (Ayana and Nora). They had made this cool slideshow that they had to present. We also got sandpit time (free time) to explore Book Creator and make our own book. I made a book about stuff that related to me and my friends favourite colours. At the end they let us share our books. Somebody made a book about Amongus and my friends shared it with us on the projector so we could see how the book looked like. It was really aewsome because our school principal came in and she was impressed.

The third toolkit I went to was MakeyMakey. It was a music activity. First we had to choose a buddy I chose my other friend (Cherubella) as my buddy. The presenters first  showed us a video based on how to put MakeyMakey parts together and what to use to make it musical. We had to use playdough and lego. If we were using lego we had to put foil on it. My buddy already had gone to the toolkit so she knew what to do. It was kind of funny because it wasn't working for me when I pressed on the playdough. I realised I hadn't put my finger on the right button. It was really awesome. That was my final toolkit that I went to for the day.

I felt really happy to try these toolits. I think we should do this every term.

Here are some photos of the awesome day

Swimmming at Cameron Pools🏊

Swimming at Cameron Pools🏊

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to blog about swimming lessons at Cameron Pools. We were very lucky to have a chance to go to Cameron Pools to have water safety lessons. The days we get to go to Cameron Pools were Tuesday and Thursday. We only have 10 sessions. After the sessions we are going to have swimming sports which is basically where we have a race. Also we had 3 lovely swimming teachers who's names are Jasmine, Brittany, and Alisha. They have their own groups. Every time we go we have a different water safety activity we have to participate in. The activities are using life jackets on the boat, rips and currents, and floating/saving people. 3 classes got to go with another class. My favourtie activity was using the life jackets to go on the boat. In the life jackets activity we had to put on a life jacket and get into the boat. Next my groups swimming teacher (Jasmine) pulled the boat and we all fell over. We learned safety tips of what we should do if we fall into the water and how to float. She tipped the boat over and told us one by one to come under the boat with her and then dive out again. Also we had to tip the boat over us. It was a really fun activity. I hope we do it again.

Here are some photos of the water safety lessons.

Year 6 Spark Arena Arts Trip🥀

Year 6 Spark Arena Arts Trip🥀

Have you ever been to a place where you get to try instruments?

Asalaam Alaikum everyone. Today I am going to blog about the Year 6 Spark Arena trip. We left for the trip at 9:00am. We were lucky and grateful that the trip was for free for us. When we got there we got welcomed by Suzy Cato. She welcomed us and introduced us to a man who's name was Brendon Hines. There were 3 places we got to explore on this trip. The 3 places were Van Gogh, Happy Place, and the Sounds Fun place. We noticed that we were not the only school there. There were 2 more schools but only Year 6's. The 2 schools that were there were Royal Road and Linkyn Heights. The first place we got to explore was the exciting Happy Place.

Happy Place! was where we got to take photos and jump in a deep ball pit and kind of get stuck. We had to go in 4's and jump in when the man says 3, 2, 1 go. I couldn't believe that even the teachers went in. My teacher dived in and was finding it pretty hard to get out. There also was this cookie that had choc chip windows and you had to open them. Also there was a room where it had a bedroom on the ceiling and when you took a photo the bed was on the ground and your were on the ceiling. We also went into the dome that had confetti in it and it also came on me🎊.

Sounds Fun is a hands on exhibition with musical instruments🥁. We went there next. It was a fun time over there. We had a time where we could play the trumpet and make our own songs and sing. 2 people were singing a teachers name (Miss Daly) because she refused to sing😂. There was an opportunity to play a keyboard but wearing headphones🎧. It was crowded with so many posters of different singers in there. It was like a disco🎞. Me and my friend Ayana were getting very hungry. So we ate our snack😋.

Van Gogh was a place where it had art sculptures🎨. We had to sit down and look at all the different paintings and different sound effects. It was very cool seeing all these art's being presented on a projector. We had to sit down for a very long time. After that we went in a room that had yellow bright sunflowers all around🌻. We then had to sadly leave but we got snack's in a brown bag. The vegetarian people got seperate bags but with only a different sandwich. We had time to eat then went back to school.

Here are some photos and videos of the Happy Place
